Bridgeport police investigate several separate reports of shots fired
BRIDGEPORT — A woman said she was reportedly grazed by a bullet in the city Saturday night in the fourth of five different reports of shots fired throughout the city between 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
Around 9:30 p.m., there were reports of shots fired on Boston Avenue, in the 800 block, just down the street from the Bridgeport Fire Department Station 10 at 950 Boston Ave.
Firefighters were notified and were all safe.
Police canvassed the area of Boston Avenue, talked to witnesses and tried to pinpoint where exactly the gunfire came from. One person told police they believed the shots came from the area of Orchard Street.
Then, just before 10 p.m., a female victim called police and said she was in her vehicle when she was fired at in the area of Spring and Orchard streets. It was unclear if she was the intended victim.
The victim told police she was grazed by a bullet and had a bruise from it, reports indicated. Detectives responded to the area the victim drove to and investigated her vehicle and spoke to her. Medics treated her at the scene.
This incident of shots fired was the fourth out of five in the city since around 4 p.m.
The first incident was in the area of Beechmont and Pleasantview avenues shortly after 4 p.m. Four shell casings were reported recovered on Pleasantview Avenue.
Around 7:30 p.m., there was a call for shots fired in the 500 block of Harral Avenue. Police reportedly recovered shell casing in the back driveway of the Greene Homes apartment complex.
About half an hour later, police were sent to the area of Blackham School for the third report of shots fired Saturday night. It was unclear if any shell casings were recovered.
The fourth incident was on Boston Avenue. Shell casings were found in the 300 block of Orchard Street at 10:47 p.m.
And the fifth happened around 10:30 p.m., when a report of shots fired came in from the 400 block of Howard Avenue.
