Security To Stay At West Side Tech

July 24, 2018

PRINGLE — A security company will continue to provide armed security guards at the West Side Career and Technology Center, according to a motion approved Monday by the school’s governing board. The vocational school will pay Commonwealth Security Resources LLC $160 each school day to provide an armed security guard at the school, and many of the guards are constables, school Solicitor Charles Coslett said. The school started paying the company for services in the spring. The school will pay the company $24 an hour for security services after school hours and $50 an hour to provide security during board meetings, Coslett said. The Wyoming Valley West School District also paid for security services through the same company, Coslett said. The regional vocational high school for the ninth grade to 12th grade is governed by a joint-operating committee with representatives from the Dallas, Northwest Area, Lake-Lehman, Wyoming Valley West and Wyoming Area school boards. — MICHAEL P.
