Charges filed against man who allegedly pepper-sprayed deputy
Prosecutors in Columbia and Sauk counties have filed car theft and battery charges against a man who allegedly pepper-sprayed a deputy and fled a traffic stop early Monday morning.
Joshua T. Martin, 30, of Milwaukee faces a felony charge in Sauk County of taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Martin faces separate felony charges in Columbia County of battery to an officer, driving a vehicle without consent and using an oleoresin device to cause harm.
Columbia County Sheriff Roger Brandner said Tuesday he suspected Martin of using pepper spray on deputy Michael Rosecky during a traffic stop for speeding. He added Martin had been reported missing out of Dane County.
