Grand champions win big in Katy ISD auction

The final 2019 Katy Independent School District FFA Livestock Show auction totals were officially announced this week. Student livestock projects raised $579,949.

This was the first year the event was held in the district’s new Agricultural Sciences Center at 5825 Katy Hockley Cut Off Road.

The 2018 Katy ISD FFA Livestock Show brought in approximately $599,000, according to the school district.

This year’s livestock show consisted of 540 student exhibitors. Top live auction winners include:

Rabbits: Grand Champion, Oliver Semrad $7,500, Reserve Champion, William Blake Griggs $4,500

Broilers: Grand Champion, Lauren Summers $7,000, Reserve Champion, Zoe BeDell $4,700

Goat: Grand Champion, Desiree Caramela Amstutz $6,700, Reserve Champion, Stephannie Gomez $6,000

Lamb: Grand Champion, Blake Daniel Muesse $6,700, Reserve Champion, Skyler Weathers $6,699

Hog: Grand Champion, Collin Wade Wilson $13,500, Reserve Champion, Abigail May $13,499

Steer: Grand Champion, Mikaela Flenner $21,000, Reserve Champion, April Villarreal $14,000
