CONWAY, Ark. — A two-term Republican congressman and the state legislator challenging him are squaring off in the only debate for a central Arkansas congressional seat Democrats hope to flip next month. Republican Congressman French Hill and Democratic state Rep. Clarke Tucker were set to debate Monday at the University of Central Arkansas in the race for Arkansas’ 2nd Congressional District. CHARTER SCHOOLS EXPANSION-GRANT
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $23 million grant to a nonprofit to expand charter schools in Arkansas over five years. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports the money was awarded to the Arkansas Public School Resources Center. The center will receive an initial $5.6 million to begin the expansion project.
