Norfolk Public Schools student enrollment up from last year
NORFOLK - With the 2018-19 school year fully underway Norfolk Public Schools was able to get a look at how many kids are in school compared to years past.
At the Board of Education meeting Monday night Superintendent Dr. Jami Jo Thompson talked about the student enrollment numbers and what they will look like going forward.
Dr. Thompson said they had a 2% increase in student enrollment this year compared to last year.
“Bel-Air Elementary grew by 33 students, we also saw large growth at Woodland Park Elementary which had 17 more students. We did have to add an overflow 2nd grade classroom there this year. The middle school also had large growth, they had 20 more students, and the Junior High had 26 more students.”
Dr. Thompson said Norfolk Public’s enrollment growth will begin to impact the Senior High in the 2019-20 school year with significant growth by 2022-23.
