Defense Steps Up for Leominster

LEOMINSTER - The Blue Devils’ defense put on a show, and the offense was no slouch, either.

Goalie Kenny Aubuchon made seven saves behind a stellar allaround defensive effort as the Leominster High boys’ lacrosse team rolled past Mid-Wach B foe Marlboro, 16-2, in Tuesday’s game at Doyle Field.

Offensively, Nate Taylor (4 goals), Zach Moran (3 goals, 5 assists) and Anthony Larson (2 goals, 3 assists) all played well for Leominster (2-0, 1-0 Mid-Wach B).

Boys’ lacrosse

Lunenburg ........................17 Hudson ................................6

Donovan Powell finished with six goals, and a pair of assists to lead the Blue Knights (1-1) to victory. Also playing well were teammates Declan Fitzpatrick (goals, 3 assists) and Jake Bremer (2 goals). Lunenburg will next host North Middlesex Regional on Thursday.

Tyngsboro............................7 Nashoba ..............................5 Rory Boots (goal, assist) and Will Falla (goal) played well in defeat for Nashoba Regional (1-1).

Girls’ lacrosse

Leominster........................14 Bay Path ..............................1

Leilani Amarasinghe and Eliza Howlett recorded three goals and one assist each in the blowout victory. Also playing well for the Blue Devils were Monique Cormier (2 goals) and goalie Alexis Hahn (6 saves).

Boys’ volleyball

Leominster ..........................3 Marlboro..............................0

The Blue Devils cruised to victory in their home opener by set scores of 25-15, 25-23 and 25-15.

Captains Eric Jenny ( 5 service points, 4 aces, 5 kills), Kurt Edmans ( 12 service points, 3 aces, 4 kills) and Seeley Thao ( 9 service points, 5 aces, 5 kills) led the way, while teammates Rohit Lalotra and Ruchit Patel also played well for the Blue Devils ( 2- 0).

Leominster will next host Worcester North on Friday.
