Mohegan Sun Pocono Fined Over Intoxicated Patron Incidents

September 14, 2018

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board issued a $50,000 fine Wednesday to Downs Racing, L.P., owner of Mohegan Sun Pocono in Plains Twp., for intoxicated patron incidents. According to the board, the fine stemmed from two incidents in which Mohegan Sun Pocono personnel failed to prevent two visibly intoxicated patrons from being served alcohol. The patrons also participated in gaming activities while visibly intoxicated. In response to the fine, Tony Carlucci, president and CEO of Mohegan Sun Pocono, said in an emailed statement, “We take responsible gaming, alcohol service and the well-being of our guests very seriously and work continuously with our dedicated team members to provide a fun, enjoyable and safe environment.” The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board’s next meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 3 in Harrisburg. — DENISE ALLABAUGH
