LONGMONT, Colo. _ A blizzard that paralyzed parts of Colorado and Wyoming barreled into the Midwest on Thursday, bringing whiteout conditions to western Nebraska and dumping heavy rain that prompted evacuations in communities father east. Emergency crews responded after a vehicle was swept off a road in Norfolk, Nebraska, and rising water along the Elkhorn River prompted evacuations of the eastern side of the city of 24,000 people. COLD CASE MURDER-ARREST _ A Colorado man charged with the 1973 murder of an 11-year-old girl in Southern California also faces charges of sex acts on two other girls. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday charged 72-year-old James Neal with lewd acts on two girls under 14 years old in Riverside County between 1995 and 2004.

HOME EXPLOSION-GAS WELL-LAWSUIT _ A federal judge has dismissed a shareholder lawsuit that claimed Anadarko Petroleum sacrificed safety at its Colorado wells and pipelines to boost its profits. U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal ruled Wednesday the lawsuit didn’t support the claims against Anadarko and three of its executives.

DEATHS-MURDER SUICIDE _ A Colorado county coroner has ruled the deaths of a man and woman were the result of a murder-suicide. The Durango Herald reports that the corner says 57-year-old Edward Ogden shot 63-year-old Gloria Casias multiple times early Sunday morning before shooting himself in southwest Colorado.
