Newspaper: Penn Relays Director To Quit
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Timothy Baker, director of the Penn Relays since 1989, will resign the post Tuesday and go to work for the Special Olympics, The New York Times reported in Tuesday’s editions.
The report was attributed to a University of Pennsylvania athletic department official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Baker would not confirm his resignation to the newspaper, but did say there had been strife between him and the athletic department.
Gail S. Zachary, Penn’s director of media relations, said late Monday she could not confirm the Times’ account. Offices had been closed for a week because of the holidays and will reopen Tuesday, she said.
