Saskatchewan 38, British Columbia 27
REGINA, Sasketchewan (AP) _ Quarterback Tom Burgess threw four touchdown passes to lift the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 38-27 victory Saturday over the B.C. Lions in the Canadian Football League.
Burgess threw two TD passes to wide receiver Elbert Turner, and connected with Mike Saunders and Ray Elgaard for scores before a near-capacity crowd of 27,008.
Turner, who signed as a free agent with the Roughriders last month, caught touchdown passes of 27 yards in the first quarter and 29 yards in the third.
The Lions cut the deficit to 35-27 in the fourth quarter when slotback Mike Trevathan caught a 17-yard TD pass from Kent Austin.
The win improved Saskatchewan’s record to 8-7 and dropped the Lions to 10-4-1, and avenged Saskatchewan’s 23-22 loss to B.C. last Saturday in Vancouver.
