Wildlands specializes in preserving natural lands and provides developers and public agencies with an efficient and environmentally beneficial method of compensating for impacts of new construction. The Black Mountain bank serves an area spanning portions of Kern, San Bernardino, Los Angeles and Inyo counties. The bank is approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Inland Deserts and Central Regions.

“Black Mountain is a fantastic addition to Wildlands’ portfolio and a crucial site for the Mojave’s ecosystem,” said Brian Monaghan, senior vice president at Wildlands. “Applicants can rest assured that this site has long-term viability that will allow them to fully mitigate their impacts.”

Black Mountain’s location benefits a number of protected species, including desert tortoise, Mohave ground squirrel, American badger, desert kit fox, loggerhead shrike and Le Conte’s thrasher, as well as waters of the state of California. A full list of covered species and mitigation types is available on the Wildlands website.

Wildlands has established an endowment fund to provide monitoring services and routine maintenance at the Black Mountain site. Endowment support will ensure the site’s sustainability and mitigation potential for years to come.

Regional projects in the planning and permitting phases are encouraged to contact Wildlands to discuss potential mitigation requirements.
