Five Dead in Christmas Fire
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ A Christmas morning fire raced through a house, killing five people, authorities said.
Fire Division Battalion Chief James Siemer said the victims included two children. They were not identified immediately.
A visitor to the home, Todd Allen, 29, said he awakened to the smell of smoke and escaped through a window, cutting his bare feet on glass. He said he climbed down a ladder put up by firefighters.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Firefighters searched the rubble for a possible sixth victim and concluded no one else was inside, said Fire Capt. Bruce Sutton.
The fire started on the first floor of the 2 1/2 -story house and caused $30,000 damage, he said.
