Singer to be honored for giving $200k in tips to Jimmy Fund

June 12, 2016

BOSTON (AP) — A singer-songwriter who has donated nearly $200,000 to the Jimmy Fund will be honored this week.

For the past decade, Terry Brennan has donated tips from his Monday night gigs at The Black Rose, a popular Boston pub.

On Monday, the Glynn Hospitality Group — owners of the pub — and the Jimmy Fund will honor him for his donations to the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon. The event will include a silent auction of Red Sox memorabilia to raise more money for this year’s radio-telethon.

The Jimmy fund supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, raising money for adult and pediatric cancer care and research.

Brennan, who is also a guitarist, will sing “God Bless America” during the 7th-inning stretch at Fenway on Aug. 29, during the two-day radio-telethon.
