BEIJING (AP) _ Four Chinese traditional medicine experts will spend nine months in the United States next year studying AIDS and offering ideas on how to fight the disease, the official Xinhua News Agency said Saturday.

Xinhua said the agreement on sending the physicians, who specialize in acupuncture and other traditional medicines, was made at a Chinese-American seminar on AIDS that ended here last week.

At that meeting, the Chinese specialists suggested AIDS may be a result of deficiency of vital energy.

China has had three confirmed deaths from AIDS.

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome is a disease in which a virus attacks the body's immune system, leaving victims susceptible to a wide variety of infections and cancers. AIDS is most often transmitted through sexual contact.
