Driver hospitalized after Route 8 crash in Derby
DERBY — Units were on scene Friday night for roughly an hour after a car went off the highway and crashed, sending the driver to the hospital.
Units responded to Route 8 north near Exit 16 for a report of a crash around 7:40 p.m. Ultimately, two fire engines and four additional fire trucks from Derby responded to the call.
Initial reports indicated the car possible rolled over. A photo from the scene shows the SUV wedged between two trees, balancing on its side.
Fire officials said the driver was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. It was unclear how serious the driver’s injuries were.
Crews cleared from the site of the crash within about an hour, causing delays headed in the both directions.
