ETrade to Add 2,200 Jobs
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) _ The online brokerage ETrade Group Inc. plans to add 1,900 to 2,200 employees at its Alpharetta office, while expanding its space by 450,000 feet.
The company has about 300 employees at its Alpharetta location. The expansion will occur over the next 2 1/2 years, said Jerry Dark, a vice president with ETrade, based in Palo Alto, Calif.
ETrade’s first 700 additional employees are expected between January and June 2000. The company also has begun construction on a 150,000- to 200,000-square-foot building.
The company now has one building in Alpharetta but envisions a corporate campus with four or five buildings housing customer service, marketing and financial services.
With 1998 revenues of $245 million, ETrade has more than doubled its customer accounts since launching its Destination ETrade Web site seven months ago.
Last week, the Internet brokerage signed up its millionth customer, a software publishing consultant from Roswell.
