FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Juan Delgado scored in the 20th minute, and Chile beat Haiti 1-0 in an exhibition match on Tuesday night.
Mauricio Isla’s centering pass from the right wing found an open Delgado, who beat goalkeeper Johny Placide with a 12-yard shot that landed inside the right post.
The match at Lockhart Stadium was the second U.S. exhibition in four days for Chile, which reached the second round of the 2014 World Cup. Chile played Mexico to a scoreless draw Saturday in Santa Clara, California.
Haiti, which had not played since a scoreless draw at Kosovo on March 5, had repeated attacks on goal early in the second half. Chile goalkeeper Johnny Herrera stopped free kicks from Pascal Millien and Jerome Merchack in the 52nd and 56th minutes.
