US hits 4 Venezuelan officers with sanctions
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Treasury Department is imposing new sanctions on four officials of the Venezuelan General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence.
The four DGCIM officials targeted Friday are Division Gen. Rafael Ramón Blanco Marrero, Col. Hannover Esteban Guerrero Mijares, Maj. Alexander Enrique Granko Arteaga and Col. Rafael Antonio Franco Quintero.
The restrictions will freeze the men’s U.S. assets and bar them from doing business with Americans.
The Trump administration has already included President Nicolás Maduro and more than 100 Venezuelan officials and insiders on its sanctions list. The directorate itself was sanctioned earlier this month after the arrest and death of Navy Capt. Rafael Acosta Arévalo.
