WAYNE — Memorial services for Marjory A. Reeg, 97, Wayne, will be at a later date under the direction of Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne. She died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Careage Campus Of Care in Wayne.
Marjory Alice Reeg was born May 15, 1921, at Wayne to James B. and Elsie (Anderson) Grier. She graduated from Wayne High School and attended Wayne State College for two years.
Marjory married Arnold (Arnie) Reeg on July 20, 1941, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne. After serving his country overseas in World War II, Arnie worked for the Wayne Creamery delivering milk by horse and wagon. The couple operated Arnie’s Superette from 1949 to 1978. For many years, Marge made all the potato salad and coleslaw sold at the grocery store. In 1978, they purchased Arnie’s Ford-Mercury together with their son, Bill, and son-in-law, Dean Bruggeman.
Marge was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and Eastern Star. She was happiest cooking her famous fried chicken and potato salad for her family or following the grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s school activities and sports. She never missed listening to Wayne High School or Wayne State College sports.
Marge is survived by one son, William (Betty) Reeg of Wayne; one daughter, Diane (Dean) Bruggeman of Gretna; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Reeg (Jim Lindau) of Wayne; eight grandchildren: Debi, Robb, Cher, Marnie, Matt, Jed, Heidi and Liz; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Arnie in 1987; a son, Robert (Bob) in 2004; an infant granddaughter; an infant great-granddaughter; two brothers and three sisters.
Marge’s family appreciates your thoughts and kindnesses.
Memorials can be sent to Wayne State College for the Arnie Reeg Wayne Community Scholarship.
