CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Thaddeous Delaney scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds Thursday night to lead the College of Charleston to an 81-73 win over Charleston Southern in two overtime periods.

Charleston Southern opened the game with a 9-2 run, but the Cougars (9-5) answered with a 10-4 spurt of their own. The Buccaneer’s Eric Burks nailed a 3-pointer at the end of the half to give Charleston Southern a 26-23 advantage. Burks led Charleston Southern (6-6) with 26 points.

The Cougars trailed for most of the second half with Charleston Southern taking a five point lead. The Cougars’ Stacy Harris hit a 3-pointer on his way to 19 points, and the Buccaneers Delaney hit a layup with three seconds remaining to force a 48-48 deadlock and overtime.

The College of Charleston took the lead in overtime and never trailed. Bret Larrick kept the Buccaneers in the game with consecutive 3-pointers. Winston Gordon hit two free throws to tie the game 61-61, forcing the second overtime.

Marion Busby hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the second overtime to score six of his 16 points. Busby and Harris combined for six points in the last 28 seconds to give the Cougars an 81-73 victory.
