Cold And Snow Lead To Arrest In Burglary Case
LYONS, N.Y. (AP) _ Snow and cold sometimes play roles in law enforcement in upstate New York.
Wayne County police investigating a burglary at a house found tracks in the snow outside.
They followed the tracks for four miles, across fields and a stream, until they encountered a man lying in the snow, exhausted and nearly frozen.
″The guy said, ’You can take me, because I’m not going any further. It’s too damn cold,‴ Wayne County Sheriff Richard Pisciotti said. ″It doesn’t happen often, but every once in a while the cold weather makes our lives a little easier.″
Police said the man was charged with burglary, petty larceny and criminal mischief.
