NFL Draft Twitter account ‘asks’ for lottery, gets flooded with angry replies
Was this a publicity stunt, or a covert way of the NFL expressing a desire to change its draft rules?
Either way, this tweet sent by the NFL draft’s official account Wednesday was an easy way to gauge public reaction to adding a lottery system to pro football, which would match the way the NBA and NHL operate.
“Hey, NFL, we want a draft lottery, too,” the tweet read, one day after the NBA draft lottery awarded the New Orleans Pelicans the No. 1 overall pick in June’s draft despite the Pelicans having the seventh-best odds to win the pick.

Unlike the current model in basketball and hockey, the NFL draft always decides its draft order starting with the worst regular season finish to best among non-playoff teams, then ordering the playoff teams by when they are eliminated.
The tweet had over 2,000 replies Thursday morning against just 565 retweets and 4,000 likesa ratio suggesting the idea was not popular.
