Bloom project closing alley for soil study
The alley adjacent to the planned Bloom construction project along the Zumbro River will be closed for several days this week to gather soil for testing.
The north-south alley, located between Second and Third streets and approximately 150 feet east of South Broadway, will be closed starting Wednesday, with plans to continue the closure through Friday, according to Rochester Public Works.
Traffic from the Associated Bank building will be required to turn south to exit the alley.
Last month, the Rochester City Council approved plans to sell city land along the river for development of two towers, which will house a mix of hotel rooms, senior housing, condos and retail space.
A development plan for the property is expected to be reviewed by the council on Sept. 17.
