Three arrested after police find cash, drugs
PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Portsmouth police arrested three people Tuesday evening after receiving a call about a man with a handgun at an apartment complex.
Authorities received a call about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday to respond to the Kendall Heights Apartment Complex at 17th Street and Kendall Avenue.
When authorities arrived, a large group of people fled, three of them running into the back door of an apartment in the 2400 block of 17th Street. The resident of the apartment was outside at the time and gave police the OK to enter and search the apartment.
Officers found three people inside, according to the release. Police also found an undisclosed amount of cash in an upstairs closet. Also recovered were several containers used to conceal narcotics, according to the release.
Recovered were 36 grams of cocaine, 59 grams of heroin and suspected narcotics with a total weight of 136 grams, according to the release.
Ashley Romine, of Sunrise Avenue, Portsmouth, was charged with two counts of possession of drugs, Christopher Craft, of 5th Street, Portsmouth, was charged with failure to appear and Carson Craft, of Summit Street, Portsmouth, was charged with failure to appear.
All suspected narcotics will be submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Identification for analysis, according to the release.
The three suspects were transported to the Scioto County Jail in Portsmouth. Additional charges could be filed when the case is presented to an upcoming Scioto County grand jury, according to the release.
