Treasury Bond Prices Fall
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were lower at midday.
The price of the Treasury’s main 30-year bond was down 7-16 point, or $4.37 1/2 per $1,000 in face value, around midday, while its yield rose to 5.81 percent from 5.78 percent late Wednesday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills rose to 5.88 percent as the discount rose 0.01 percentage point to 5.71 percent. Six-month yields remained unchanged at 6.12 percent as the discount held at 5.85 percent. One-year yields rose to 6.15 percent as the discount rose 0.03 point to 5.82 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
