Katy area law enforcement react to HPD officers shot
Shortly after five Houston police officers were injured after attempting to serve a warrant to suspected drug dealers, several Katy area officials sent messages of encouragement to the agency.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office, the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office, the city of Fulshear, the Katy, Richmond, Sugar Land and Katy ISD police departments were among the many who sent concerns to the men in blue who were shot at when they busted down a door of a suspected drug den in southeast Houston.
The veteran narcotics officers were the target of gunfire: four were injured, two critically. No officers died as a result of the shooting.
“Send your prayers, positive thoughts or whatever your preference is to our HPD friends,” read a message from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re hearing as many as five officers have been shot in an incident.”
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office asked the community to keep the Houston Police Department in “your thoughts and prayers.”
Other agencies in the area joined in and asked the community to pray for the injured officers.

Four undercover officers remain hospitalized as of Tuesday morning.
