Maradona Watches Soccer Game on TV
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) _ Diego Maradona watched Argentina play a soccer game on TV from his hospital room while he recovers from heart and lung problems.
The 43-year-old soccer great entered his 12th day in intensive care Thursday. The night before he watched the second half of his country’s 1-0 victory at Morocco in an exhibition game.
Maradona walked around his hospital room Wednesday. Doctors said then they expect him to spend only a few more days in intensive care. He is tolerating a special liquid diet and breathing unaided after a respirator was removed last weekend.
Maradona, who led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title, was rushed to a hospital April 18, complaining of chest pains and fever. In January 2000, he was hospitalized in Uruguay and diagnosed with a severe heart condition.
He later went to Cuba for drug rehabilitation. Maradona’s family has said drug problems had nothing to do with his current hospitalization.
