Lightning Kills Five Workers in Southern Philippines
CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines (AP) _ Lightning killed five workers in the southern Philippines on Tuesday as they prepared lunch in a tent under a tree, police said.
A sixth worker, about 16 feet from the tent, was injured by the bolt that hit in Misamis Oriental province, said police Chief Superintendent Melo Esguerra. The province is 500 miles south of Manila.
The injured worker suffered second-degree burns on his face and body. He said they were building a fence for a local lumber company.
