Three Injured in Texas Naval Base Shooting
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) _ Three service members were injured in a shooting at a military reserve base Thursday and a suspect was in custody, an official said.
The three were taken to hospitals after the shooting at Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base at Carswell, base spokeswoman Laura Smith said. Their conditions weren’t immediately available.
The gunman was in custody but it wasn’t clear if he was one of the injured, Smith said. Military officials were still sorting through other details of the shooting and planned to release a statement Thursday afternoon, she said.
Gates to the base, formerly known as Carswell Air Force Base, were closed down briefly following the afternoon shooting but later reopened. Emergency vehicles could be seen surrounding a building near an air traffic control tower on the base.
Nearly 8,000 reservists from the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Texas Air National Guard are assigned to the base.
