Toronto Bidding for 2008 Olympics
TORONTO (AP) _ Toronto’s bid for the 2008 Summer Olympics was confirmed by the Canadian Olympic Association.
``There is no doubt in the COA that Toronto has the ability, the heart and innovation needed to mount a successful bid and leave our country with a meaningful legacy of sport and cultural facilities and activities,″ said Carol Anne Letheren, the COA’s chief executive officer.
Beijing; Havana; Istanbul, Turkey; Osaka, Japan; Paris; Seville, Spain; and Thailand have already announced their interest to stage the Games. Also considering bidding are Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cairo; Cape Town, South Africa; and Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. The deal to submit is Tuesday.
