76ers’ Iverson Strains Left Shoulder
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Allen Iverson strained his left shoulder in practice Thursday.
The guard collided with a teammate during a five-on-five drill and left practice with an ice pack on his shoulder and his left arm bandaged. He was listed as day-to-day, pending the results of an MRI test.
Iverson ``has always been an individual who can tolerate a lot of pain,″ 76ers coach Randy Ayers said. ``If he’s healthy and he feels good, he’ll try to play.″
Ayers said that Aaron McKie probably will start in Iverson’s place on Friday against the Sacramento Kings if the 2001 league MVP can’t play.
Iverson, a three-time NBA scoring champion, had 26 points and 11 assists in Tuesday’s season-opening victory over the Miami Heat.
