With the sounds of polka music in the background, 20 teams of rowers hit the Channel on Thursday for the 10th annual Pineapple Race. This year’s event had an Oktoberfest theme, with competitors dressed in lederhosen and dirndls and the smell of beer and brats wafting over the festivities.
Feeling Good Fitness took the overall top time out of the novice division, their five-member team rowing the ¼-mile stretch in 1 minute, 11.59 seconds. Havasu Fitness won the intermediate division in 1:12.63 and Edward Jones won the experienced division in 1:13.53.
In the exhibition first responders division, Desert Hills Fire Department edged Lake Havasu City Fire Department by 14 hundredths of a second, finishing in 1:07.51.
