2 men shot in Beech Island on Saturday; investigation underway

Two men were shot in an apparent drive-by shooting in Beech Island Saturday night, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and witnesses whom the Sheriff’s Office consulted.

One of the men was shot in the back; the other man was shot in the leg and groin region, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Both were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition following emergency treatment, police said.

At around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call on the 200 block of Green Road.

Witnesses told police that shots were fired from a dark-colored SUV as it drove past 262 Green Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The witnesses also told police the two men that were shot had been taken to a hospital “via personal vehicle,” the Sheriff’s Office said. Investigators went to the hospital to follow-up.

The shooting is still under investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
