The Genesis Show: Tribute band chases authenticity

December 24, 2018

Prog rock from yesterday, anyone? Try the Phil Collins era of Genesis at the Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday, Jan. 5.

The Genesis Show, a Genesis tribute band that focuses on the Phil Collins years of the band from 1976-1982, will perform the 1977 “Seconds Out” live album in its entirety in running order. After that will be an encore set of songs from Genesis’s 1982 “Three Sides Live” album.

The band faithfully reproduces the live sound Genesis had in the mid-1970s, says a release, with two drummers and vintage gear. The band will also play some songs from the ’76 Tour that featured Bill Bruford on drums, so fans will get to hear how the songs sounded live in with Bruford on the drums as well as how they sounded in ’77 with Chester Thomson on drums.

Ridgefield Playhouse, 80 E Ridge Rd, Ridgefield. Saturday, Jan. 5, 8 p.m. $37.50. Ridgefieldplayhouse.org.
