Arizona softball sweeps Ole Miss, claims spot in WCWS

Today's News-HeraldMay 26, 2019

Arizona softball routed Ole Miss 9-1 on Saturday to earn its 23rd trip to the Women’s College World Series and its first since 2010.

After a 5-2 win on Friday night over the Rebels, the Wildcats used a three-run fourth inning to take the lead and a four-run seventh inning to run away with a win in Game 2 to sweep the best-of-three Super Regional.

Dejah Mulipola opened the scoring for Arizona with a solo home run in the top of the second.

Autumn Gillespie answered back with a solo home run of her own in the bottom of the third to pull Ole Miss even.

From there, it was all Wildcats.
