SUMMER LEAGUE RDP
LAS VEGAS — Play continues at the Las Vegas NBA summer league. The eight games Thursday include: Heat-Pelicans, Knicks-Celtics, Grizzlies-Thunder, 76ers-Suns, Spurs-Bucks, Clippers-Lakers, Jazz-Magic, Hawks-Trail Blazers. UPCOMING: Developing from 3 p.m. start; 900 words, photos.
UNDATED — When the Alliance of American Football makes its first snap next February, there could be lots of familiar names playing for each of the eight teams. Makes sense, too, because a brand new league needs as many hooks to attract fans as it can find. The Alliance is going with a geographic allocation system that takes advantage of where players attended college, or where they performed in the NFL. By Pro Football Barry Wilner.
