SEXUAL MISCONDUCT-STATE LEGISLATURES

Barely a month into the 2019 legislative sessions, new policies against sexual misconduct already have been enacted or proposed in about one-fifth of the states as the #MeToo movement enters its second year in state capitols amid continuing complaints of sexual wrongdoing. Some states taking action this year had failed to do so in the immediate aftermath of the movement that began in fall 2017 and led to accusations against dozens of state lawmakers. Problems have persisted into the new year, with new complaints coming from lawmakers in Georgia and Massachusetts.
