Yeltsin To Spend Weekend Resting
MOSCOW (AP) _ President Boris Yeltsin, fighting off bronchitis and a cold, is spending the weekend resting at his country home outside Moscow, his press service said today.
Aides have said Yeltsin’s health is ``satisfactory,″ and he dismissed doctors orders and worked in the Kremlin two days last week. The president has a respiratory infection that forced him to cut short a visit to Central Asia on Monday.
On Friday, he canceled an upcoming trip to an Asian summit. Government officials said it was because of his health.
He is expected to return to the Kremlin on Monday.
Yeltsin, 67, has a long history of health problems, including 1996 heart bypass surgery. The president and his doctors insist he has no serious health problems and will serve out the final two years of his term.
