The Aiken County Education Association-Retired will meet at 11 a.m.today at the Woodside Plantation Country Club, 100 Woodside Plantation Drive. The association is open to any retired educators. New members are welcome. Annual local dues are $15. Registration was due Oct. 8. The cost of the meal is $16.50.
Aiken Prays will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at The Village Cafe, 110 Coach Light Way S.W. Aiken Prays is a non-denominational women’s prayer group affiliated with Stonecroft. Prayers may be either silent or aloud, and participants may enjoy a Dutch treat lunch following the prayer time. Reservations are required. Barktober Fest will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Road. The event will feature vendors, a cash bar, costume contests for pets and humans, free dog park admission and music from Beth Spangler. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger.
