Woman struck and killed on Route 6 in Yarmouth
YARMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — State police are trying to determine why a 32-year-old woman who died after being struck by two vehicles on Route 6 in Yarmouth was walking on the highway.
State police identified the woman on Sunday as Jessica Spaid of Yarmouth. Officials say she died Saturday afternoon after being struck in the westbound lanes of Route 6 near exit 8.
Several people called 911 at about 5 p.m. Saturday to report a woman walking on Route 6 westbound. There were several more 911 calls a short time later reporting that a woman had been struck.
State police say the drivers involved in the accident were interviewed and were not cited for any traffic violations.
The accident forced the closure of Route 6 for about two and a half hours.
