It will be very cold for the remainder of the week

March 5, 2019

After the big snowfall, we have several days of below-freezing temperatures.

The National Weather Service says it won’t be until Friday when temperatures climb above 32 degrees.

“A polar front moves through the region this evening.,” the NWS says. “High pressure will slowly build into the region Wednesday night through Thursday. Weak low pressure may affect the region Friday night. High pressure will then build to the north on Saturday. A frontal system will affect the area from Sunday into Monday.”

“It’s too early to get too specific with precipitation types, but this appears to be mainly a rain event with perhaps some wintry precipitation types at the start,” the NWS says.

Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, the temperature was 9 degrees in Oxford, 10 in Danbury, 18 in Bridgeport and 21 in New Haven.

The NWS says the cold temperature have created icy conditions from some of the snow that melted and later froze overnight.

Temperatures are expected to fall into the teens or high single numbers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
