COSHOCTON, Ohio (AP) _ Molly Hatcher, a member of Kenyon’s national championship swimming team, was killed Thursday night and 10 people were injured when the team’s van overturned on an icy highway.
Hatcher, 21, of Evanston, Ill., was killed as the van went out of control, struck a guard rail and overturned twice, State Patrol Sgt. Kay Perkins told The Coshocton Tribune.
Coshocton County Sheriff’s Lt. Jon Mosier said 10 others in the van were injured in the single-vehicle crash, but the injuries weren’t considered life-threatening.
Kenyon College is in Gambier, about 30 miles west of the crash scene.
Kenyon, which has won 16 straight NCAA Division III swimming titles, was reported to be returning from a meet in North Carolina when the crash occurred some 65 miles east of Columbus.
