LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska quarterback Jammal Lord was ticketed for disturbing the peace.
The 21-year-old Lord and Greichaly Cepero, also an athlete at Nebraska, appeared to be drunk and were taken to a detoxification center early Sunday. Both were later released but never arrested, police spokeswoman Katherine Finnell said.
Nebraska football coach Frank Solich said the citation does not require suspending Lord from any games, but some form of discipline may be necessary.
``We’ll investigate what had transpired and make a decision based on the information we get,″ Solich said Monday during the weekly Big 12 Conference coaches call with reporters. ``Certainly we do not approve of our players drinking.″
Officers were called to Lord’s apartment after neighbors complained about loud noise hours after the Cornhuskers’ 24-13 win over Missouri.
Cepero, also 21, plays on Nebraska’s women’s basketball and volleyball teams. She was ticketed for disturbing the peace and failure to obey a police order.
