Body found in resaca identified; not a student
The Brownsville Police Department identified the body of a man pulled from the Fort Brown Resaca Monday as 58-year-old Luis Fernando Contreras, ruling out the possibility of it being a student.
“From what I understand, he was staying at the University Inn (and Suites) and worked somewhere in Houston and he would travel back and forth,” Brownsville Police Spokesman J.J. Treviño said.
The decomposed body was found in the Fort Brown Resaca adjacent to Texas Southmost College and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Monday evening.
Brownsville police says the case is classified as a death investigation and is waiting for the toxicology report and pending the autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
The victim’s family has been notified. No foul play is suspected at this time, Treviño said.
The investigation will remain ongoing.
