Million-dollar Lottery Winner At Local Valero

July 21, 2018

An area resident won $1 million on a Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off ticket sold Thursday night at Valero in Jenkins Twp. Alka Patel, manager of Valero, confirmed an area resident who frequently buys scratch-off tickets won on a Power Play ticket he scratched off at the store. She said she doesn’t know his name but his regular routine is to buy a couple tickets every day. “He bought the ticket and scratched it off and he couldn’t believe it,” Patel said. Pennsylvania Lottery spokesman Gary Miller said he could not yet confirm a winner because he has not yet claimed the prize. He encouraged the ticket holder to sign it and file a claim at the nearest lottery office at 49 S. Washington St. in Wilkes-Barre. Valero would win a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket, Miller said. — DENISE ALLABAUGH
