Waterman Christmas House Walk set for Saturday

December 7, 2018

WATERMAN – Ever since Beverly Dinelli moved to Waterman last January, she has been decorating her home, adding touches here and there to personalize it.

On Saturday, Dinelli’s home, 245 N. Elm St., will be one of five homes showcased during the Waterman Christmas House Walk.

“I love decorating, especially for Christmas,” Dinelli said. “Christmas is a special holiday for being as a Christian.

The Waterman Christmas House Walk, sponsored by the Waterman Enhancement Group, will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Tickets cost $15 each and can be purchased at the Waterman Village Hall and at any of the homes: 810 Wilson St., 220 Greeley St., 370 N. Pine St., 245 N. Elm St., 310 N. Elm St. Apt. 1. Money raised will benefit Waterman’s Muingan Park.

Tickets include refreshments at each house and a Waterman Winery sampling.

Each of the homes will be decorated with themed décor. This year’s themes include “Dickens’ Christmas Village,” “A Country Christmas,” “A Children’s Christmas,” and “A Traditional and Vintage Christmas.”

Dinelli said she would describe her decorations as “traditional.” Her decorations will include her husband’s family’s presepio, an Italian nativity scene.

“My tree will be decorated in red and green, and there will be a nativity scene underneath,” she said. “I will also display my husband’s presepio. It’s about 40 years old, and it’s been part of husband’s family’s Christmas tradition every year. For some people, maybe it’s something new, something they’ve never seen before.”

Alysa Amy has been decorating her house at 810 Wilson St. for more than a month in preparation for the Christmas walk.

“There will be a Christmas tree in every room and we’re trying to make each room as festive as we can,” she said. “There will be stockings, mistletoe and garland. I’m excited to show off the house, all our hard work decorating and get into the Christmas spirit.”

Other events held in Waterman that day include horse-drawn wagon rides, a fireside lunch at the Waterman Presbyterian Church and a craft expo, Boy Scout breakfast, Lion’s Club fruit sales and a Christmas drawing at Indian Creek Middle School.
