Fairland girls, Rock Hill boys win OVC cross country titles
IRONTON — Fairland High School’s girls cross country team won its 12th consecutive Ohio Valley Conference cross country championship Tuesday and Rock Hill’s boys captured their fourth OVC title in a row.
Fairland won with 27 points, with Rock Hill coming in second with 40 points. Gallia Academy was third with 67. Ironton placed fourth with 92. McKenna Pannell of Fairland won the individual championship in the 42-runner field, crossing the finish line in 20:23.34, just ahead of teammate Emma Marshall, who finished in 20:24.19.
Rock Hill topped the seven-team boys field with 28 points. Fairland finished second with 55 points, followed by Ironton with 102, Portsmouth with 121, Gallia Academy with 125, Coal Grove with 152 and South Point with 165.
Portsmouth’s Aiden Kammler won the individual title, outrunning 60 other competitors and finishing in 17:10.53. Ethan Miller of Fairland placed second in 17:23.43.
The girls All-OVC team included Pannell, Marshall, Deanna Hall and Olivia Lewis from Fairland; Camryn Miller, Bella Stevens and Brooklyn Scythes from Rock Hill; Sarah Watts of Gallia Academy; and Sarah Cecil, Kylee Thomas and Elli Holmes from Coal Grove.
The All-OVC boys squad included Kammler and Daniel Clark of Portsmouth; Ethan Miller, Jasson Aguilera, Logan Boggs, Noah Woods, Eli Baker, Nick Blankenship, Victor Aguilera and Brady Floyd of Rock Hill; Wade Brown, Mason Fannin and Jake Marshall of Fair-land; and William Harrison and Ethan Wilson of Ironton.
