Scottsbluff student to receive his high school diploma Sunday, after already graduating college

SCOTTSBLUFF — Blake Greckel pulled off a rare feat when he earned his associate’s degree through Western Nebraska Community College a week before receiving his high school diploma.

He enrolled in 60 credit hours to earn his associate’s in business administration on top of his high school course requirements.

“I met with (Adreana) Fertig-Marlow, my counselor, and she said I was on track to graduate. I think I even had a little over what I needed so I had a lot of free time. I thought I would fill that free time with college classes and dual credit courses.”

He began taking general college biology his junior year of high school and continued adding to his course load, which required sacrifices.
