Elaine A. ‘Toodie’ Hatz, 92, Portage

Elaine A. “Toodie” Hatz, 92, passed away peacefully at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage on Sunday, July 8, 2018.

Elaine was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Portage, the daughter of Herman and Cora (Stomner) Schwantz. She married Kenneth Hatz on Sept. 18, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1993. Elaine worked at First National Bank in Portage for over 37 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Evangelical Church in Portage.

She is survived by niece Judith Van Wormer and her children Deb (Pat) O’Rourke and their children Emily, Daniel and Paddy, Gary D. (Jane) Van Wormer and their son Jack, Craig (Gwen) Van Wormer and children Cassie (Matt), EJ and Jacob, Cathy Robinson and her children Keegan, Nicholas and Bailey; Jackie (Schwantz) (Mike) Raimer and their children Dylan (Jenn) Schwantz and their children Carter, Owen and Kali, Austin Raimer; niece Kathleen Schwantz and her children Phillip Lentz, Travis Lentz and Taylor; niece Sharlene Dumke Marsh; niece Ruth Ann Dumke, Dawn Krause (Tom) Urban, Tammy Chapman and her children Kaden, Kiley and Kegan, Wendy (Chapman) (Matt) Dittman and their son Henry; grandnephews Robert (Jill) Schwantz and their children Gemini, Lilyian and Roary, Jim (Debbie) Krause, Richard Krause, James Locke, Michael (Rebecca) Chapman and their daughter Faith; Mike (Tammy) Schwantz and their children Nick, Ella and Kaelynn; sister-in-law Dorthea (Hatz) Tritz and her children John, Tom and Larry Tritz; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Cora (Stromner) Schwantz; husband, Kenneth Hatz (born April 13, 1924; deceased Jan. 21, 1993); infant son, Phillip (deceased May 16, 1966); siblings, Hildred, Charles, Edwin, Earl, Gladys; nephews, Robert Dumke, Calvin Schwantz, Gary Schwantz; nieces, Darlene Krause, Connie Chapman; grandniece, Christine Schwantz-Tetzlaff; and nephew-in-law, Gary Van Wormer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Portage, with the Rev. Greg Hovland officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 850 Armstrong St., Portage, WI 53901.
